Broadcast

While broadcast is not my primary role, I worked closely with video content throughout the past two years. I produced and edited short-form reels for our social media platforms and contributed to longer promotional videos for the program. This section highlights my experience using broadcast elements to expand ODYSSEY’s storytelling across digital platforms.

Flag Football

This is a video to preview the Flag football State playoff Game. I did the interviews for the background sounds in the video and I went with the team to the field to their practices to get the interviews. I was able to bond with my staff and also learn a lot about the sport of flag football.

Man on the street

This was a video asking  CCHS students who they thought would win the CCHS-Cedar football game.  I filmed this and went up to participants asking for them to be in the video.  The video got a lot of likes in anticipation of the game and I feel this was due to the high stakes, fast pace of the video and that we got lot's of faces. the video also received many reposts.

Event
coverage

One of the most common types of reels I posted this year was coverage reels. These are a compilation of videos with music in the background that show what happened. These are super simple makes for me and by far one of the most fun. I truly enjoy lining up the audio to video and making it all flow.

Question of the month

As Social Media Coordinator, all throughout the first semester I posted QOTM's. These were filmed by my staffers and then I took on editing them. I edited in CapCut and although time-consuming, I quickly got the hand of creating these in a timely manner.

The first big broadcast video I took on was creating our SIPA recap. I was worried at first because I’d never done broadcasts. However, I made sure to get more than enough footage to have everything I needed. I was excited to produce it so the second we got on the bus to return home, I created it. I was able to publish the broadcast within four days of our return. Looking back, I see a few mistakes and things I would do differently. I’ve learned from those mistakes and I think I can produce even better work in the future.

My second video was longer than my first and much more challenging. I had many rounds of edits and much more planning. I found it stressful and time consuming but it was worth it! The edits improved the video from the first draft. When it aired at the banquet in front of many tables of people, I felt the importance of having a polished product to share that day.

This year, I have put a huge emphaisis on the importance of branding. Branding can mean a lot of things but here are a few ways we brand our social media:
